NORWEGIAN DESIGN TEAM, HENNIE INTERIORS WIN 2007 ANDREW MARTIN INTERNATIONAL INTERIOR DESIGNER OF THE YEAR AWARD
This September, Martin Waller, Managing Director of Andrew Martin will announce that the 2007 winner of the prestigious Andrew Martin International Interior Designer of the Year Award is Norwegian Interior Designer and Architect, Helene Hennie of ‘Hennie Interiors’.
Helene Hennie, Managing Director of Hennie Interiors has worked in the industry for over 25 years and is recognised as one of Norway’s most renowned interior architects. Hennie Interiors was recently ranked among the world’s top 30 firms of interior architects.
Hennie’s effortlessly chic designs incorporate classically clean and timeless lines with the use of soft fabrics and textures and a strong Gustavian influence. Hennie believes that lighting and climate are two of the most important factors to consider in interiors. Over the years, Hennie has worked on private yachts, aeroplanes, mountain cabins and a range of furniture for Norwegian company, ‘Slettvoll’. For the Andrew Martin Award Helene Hennie submitted a stunning portfolio including designs for a townhouse, summerhouse, hotel restaurant, cottage and a mountain apartment.
Helene Hennie says; ‘‘Winning the Andrew Martin International Interior Designer of the Year Award is a huge achievement for Hennie Interiors. It gives me great satisfaction without comparison - there is no greater prize in our industry today.’
Attracting over 500 worldwide entries, previous winners of this award include Taylor Howes Designs, Tara Bernerd and Kelly Hoppen. This year judging took place in April and included a panel of interior designers and opinion formers consisting of: Stuart Rose (CEO of Marks & Spencer), Tom Aikens (Chef and Restaurateur) and Martin Waller.
Martin Waller says; "The judges were inspired by the impressive breadth of her work, from sophisticated urban projects to more casual mountain cabins. Both demonstrate her commitment to relaxed comfort and stylish detailing which is the hallmark of Helene's distinct handwriting"
Labelled as ‘the Oscars of the interior design world’ (The Times), Martin Waller first set up the Award in 1996 in order to discover and celebrate the talents of the world’s best interior designers. The winner and other leading entries will be published in Andrew Martin’s ‘Interior Design Review’ book later this year.
